Bucket Baby vs the Climber free essay sample
The reason the trees make them chipper. As the owner of a small tree service I have had to evaluate whether or not to purchase an aerial lift bucket truck to assist in the tree trimming and removal process or to stick to old methods such as climbing. Most people have fond memories of climbing trees as young children. ââ¬Å"Learning to safely climb a tree is a lot more involved than simply spying some sturdy looking branches that seem like they could hold your weight as you scramble to the top. (Toothman) However, professionally climbing a tree to trim or remove branches can be a truly frightening experience that can be physically exhausting. On the other hand operating an aerial lift may be frightening, However , not physically exhausting. The utilization of an aerial lift will increase productivity by decreasing climber involvement and increasing company morale. An ancient proverb states Many hands make light work. We will write a custom essay sample on Bucket Baby vs the Climber or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page (Ammer) In life this holds true, but in practicality it is not always the most efficient method. By purchasing an aerial lift and using it in my day to day tree trimming and tree removal operations, I could do the work of ten climbers using one hundred ropes in half the time. Sure, my cost of operation would increase, but with great risk comes great rewards. As I stated before my ability to complete the work would increase substantially resulting in a higher profit margin. If I were to scale a tree ranging in heights of one hundred feet plus, I would have to complete a variety of steps. First I would have to assemble all my gear. Then attach all my utensils to my climbing saddle, before climbing the tree. Next set a work line in a desired location to cut off limbs. After this I must determine mass load of branches that I will be cutting off. Then I must evaluate hinge points and branch swinging clearance. There is a lengthy process to climbing trees professionally. If I were to work on the same tree using an aerial lift, I would drive up to it with the bucket, set up the lift in an appropriate location to access the tree effectively, jump in the bucket, oom up to the top with my chainsaw and ropes, calculate swing distance, hinge points, mass load, and begin cutting. The theory is primarily the same but the method is different, By utilizing both crafts of climbing and the bucket, the overall efficiency of the operations will increase. The next important piece to examine is how involved a human being must be in the tree service industry. Imagine a tree climber working for a tree removal service, climbing a tree about ninety feet in the air thirty feet out on a branch. Being asked to cut off the end of that branch while hanging from the side holding a power chainsaw. Also this branch is located over a house. The branch is only attached to a rope, when it falls the violent up and down movement occurs with the worker still dangling. By separating the climber from the tree and putting that climber in an aerial lift it lessens the danger presented to the climber in the overall trimming and removal process. It could be argued that by separating the climber from the tree the overall quality of the tree work may decline. However, this issue could be resolved simply by awareness. By structuring company meetings to address issues before they arise, one can take control of the probability of an outcome. There are a variety of incentives that one can implement to raise company moral. Rewarding an employee with a fair wage for a hard job it makes them feel respected; by rewarding an employee with a piece of equipment that makes a hard job easier at the same hourly wage in turn makes them feel cared about. The purchase of a bucket truck would accomplish company goals, and move away from ââ¬Å"the one-guy-and-truck sort of business that dominate the industryâ⬠. mastrull) By decreasing climber involvement while increasing overall efficiency and profit margins, the company will gain success resulting in higher wages and better benefits for employees. As the company grows more successful its ability to insure the well being of its team members. As a result the employee gains a greater sense of accomplishment and pride in their work. When a person likes what they are doing, they can do it all day long with a smile on their faces. When everything runs smoothly and everyone is happy the overall company morale will be boosted. Again resulting in increased productivity, efficiency and quality of work. Owning a small company is a daunting venture, I am constantly making sacrifices and devoting most of my attention the business. In all my analyzing and reflection it stands to reason that the purchase of an aerial lift bucket truck for my company would be a wise investment that would pay for itself within a short time frame. The utilization of an aerial lift in the tree trimming and removing process will increase productivity by decreasing climber involvement and increasing company morale.

Abortion -- Fathers and Fetuses essays
Abortion Fathers and Fetuses essays I believe in some cases, a woman should have the right to have an abortion if she so chooses. But in the case of Steve and Michelle, presented by philosopher George W. Harris, I feel that Michelle does not have the right to abort her child. When Michelle decided that she was not going to tell her husband Steve about her intentions not to have children, she was wrong. She deceived her husband through her actions as well as lying to herself, believing that she could change her husbands views of family life. Michelle was unsuccessful in her attempts to change these views, and soon the unexpected happened and she became pregnant. Michelle now desires to have an abortion. A large problem arises, for Steve, being the father, does not agree to the abortion. Although Michelle is the direct bearer of the weight of pregnancy, this does not exclude the parental right of Steve. Each parent has contributed to the offspring and therefore Steve should be able to have the right to decide whe ther his child will live or not. The child is a part of him as well and therefore the father has a right to express and defend his views about the welfare of his offspring. I am not blaming the whole uncomfortable situation on Michelle alone, for Steve should have made sure, along with Michelle, that the two of them had the all important talk of family before getting married. Personally, I cannot understand how the subject was never brought up in a conversation. I could not marry someone unless I was comfortable with his future plans and I knew that he was equally comfortable with mine. Many of the problems that are causing this argument are the issues of trust and communication. Certainly Michelle expected or trusted that Steve would understand her point of view, which is obvious in her argument, feeling that she could make Steve understand her views. Steve, on the other hand, assumed and trusted that Michelle would want the same futu...

Review & Reflection on Peace. Understanding Biblical Themes by Walter Essay
Review & Reflection on Peace. Understanding Biblical Themes by Walter Brueggemann - Essay Example nn has tried to create a piece of work that would actually find the right kind of explanation and solution that would give people, ruler or ordinary, the chance to start PEACE within themselves. Walter Brueggemann, being an expert of theology, has further understanding on how peace is actually noted as an important element to human living. He then has been known for writing materials that suggest the possibility of applying peace into human life through the application of Biblical principles which he believes are the best foundations for human living. Hence, as part of his personal belief, he created several writings that aim to give people a chance to understand better how peace could actually begin in each individual. One of these writings was that of the book entitled ââ¬Å"Peaceâ⬠, which attracted the attention of the many readers and critics of the fact that peace is such an inevitable matter to consider and at some point even impossible to dream about. Everybody thinks of peace and everyone else hopes for it. For many years, the human generation tries all the different procedures possible to create a considerable way of making peace a possible element that would be easier to dream of and be easier to apply on the part of everybody in the society today. As a result, the reintroduction of the book is being handled today to release the book again since the publishers knew that the process of helping people realize their responsibility on distributing the chance of making peace possible for existence would make a great difference on numerous individuals who would have the chance to read the book. About three fourths of the book of Brueggemann discussed about the personal brickyards that each person has within themselves making it impossible for real peace to ever occur. Undeniably, he then points out that peace begins within a person. It is through this that peace grows out in ones heart and later on gets pass on to others. As based from bible principles, the

The Analects of Confucius trans. by Arthur Waley . pp. 83-114 Essay
The Analects of Confucius trans. by Arthur Waley . pp. 83-114 - Essay Example His emphasis lay on the morality aspect of life that is based on sincerity, justice and the right way to lead ones life. His system of philosophy came to be known as ââ¬Å"Confucianismâ⬠. In his Analects, Confucius takes himself to be a sort of ââ¬Å"transmitter who invented nothingâ⬠. (The Analects, 479 BCE ââ¬â 221BCE, VII.1) Since he belonged to the ancient ordered society, he was very conservative and had a high vision of personal as well as social perfections. He wanted to create a revival that was based on a unified royal state where its rulers earned their power on the basis of their own sincere moral merit, not their parentage. ââ¬Å"The Wayâ⬠that Confucius speaks about is the exemplification of ones own self by sheer virtue of morality and not by any set rules or regulations. His ideals and teachings are not conveyed in a direct manner because he made use of allusions, tautology and innuendo. As Arthur Waley explains his famous anecdote ââ¬â When the stables were burnt down, on returning from court, Confucius said, ââ¬Å"Was anyone hurt?â⬠He did not ask about the horses. (Analects X.11, tr. A. Waley) Even though the horses were much more expensive than stablemen, yet he chose to ask about the stablemen instead proving that he valued humans much more than property. In ancient Confucianism, there are two terms ââ¬Å"Yiâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Liâ⬠that are closely related to each other and is translated to mean righteousness. Both these terms compliment each other and means doing the right thing for the right reason. The term ââ¬Å"Yiâ⬠is again complimentary to the term ââ¬Å"Renâ⬠which is based on the virtue of completing oneââ¬â¢s responsibilities perfectly to other human beings. Arthur Waley denotes this as ââ¬Å"Goodnessâ⬠with a capital ââ¬Å"Gâ⬠. Confucius desired that all the people should follow the Way or the Path that enhanced goodness and selflessness instead of just following the set of rules of ââ¬Å"Yiâ⬠. Both ââ¬Å"Yiâ⬠as well as

Euthanasia Argued with Utilitarianism Essay Example for Free
Euthanasia Argued with Utilitarianism Essay ââ¬Å"The term euthanasia originated from the Greek word for ââ¬Ëgood deathââ¬â¢. It is the act or practice of ending the life of a person either by lethal injection or the suspension of medical treatment. Because of this many view euthanasia as simply bringing relief by alleviating pain and sufferingâ⬠(1). I strongly agree in legalizing euthanasia in our society, and I will be applying the ethical doctrine Utilitarianism to defend my case. Euthanasia minimizes the suffering that affects those involved. Euthanasia is already legal in Holland, Luxembourg and Belgium, and permitted in Switzerland if performed by a non-doctor. In the US, the State of Washington, Montana, and Oregon have already passed laws in support of euthanasia while a recent Gallop poll finds that the vast majority of Americans continue to support right-to-die laws for terminally ill patients. The following benefits to legalizing euthanasia are: patientsââ¬â¢ are saved from unwanted suffering, free up the nurses and doctors time for savable patients, vital organs can be saved, allowing doctors to save the lives of others, and health care cost would be reduced. Certain diseases are incurable and result in a slow agonizing death. What is the purpose to suffer endlessly till the body gives out? Imagine what it would be like to spend six months, or more, vomiting, coughing, enduring pain spasms, and suffering psychologically as well. Would it not minimize suffering, for the patient and the family and friends involved, to give the patient the option to say when they had enough? Patients can die with dignity rather than have the illness reduce them to a shell of their former selves, and lessen the suffering of their family and friends. I also believe the right to die should be a fundamental freedom of each person. Nowhere in the constitution does it imply that the government has the right to keep a person from committing suicide. After all, if the patient and the family agree its what they want to do, whose business is it anyway? Who else is it going to hurt? In a country thats supposedly free, this should be a fundamental right. Furthermore, we face a critical shortage of medical staff in this country right now, especially nurses. Recent studies from the pass five year have confirmed the obvious, that understaffed hospitals make more mistakes and provide lesser quality care. This when considered under the utilitarian doctrine is immoral because it contributes to the overall utility that maximizes the suffering, and the moral goal is to maximize the good overall. Things are only going to get worse as the baby boom generation gets older and life spans increase. Being more productive with the nurses and doctors time, the greatest happiness for the greatest number of people can be achieve, because the quality of care will increase and many lives can be saved with the time that was freed up. In addition to increasing the quality of care in hospitals, Vital organs can also be saved, allowing doctors to save the lives of others. Euthanasia allows physicians to preserve vital organs that can be donated to others, assuming the patients are organ donors. People in need of organ transplants have long waiting lists to look forward to; for hearts, kidneys, livers, and other organs that are necessary to save the lives of people who can be saved. However, if certain diseases are allowed to run their full course, the organs may weaken or cease to function altogether. Once again, we have to put the needs of the ââ¬Ëlivingââ¬â¢ ahead of the needs of the ââ¬Ëdyingââ¬â¢. Finally, healthcare costs will be reduced, which will in turn lower insurance premiums. Consider the huge cost of keeping a dying patient alive for several months. You must pay for x-rays, lab tests, drugs, medical staff salaries, etc. The overall net worth is monstrously high. It is not unheard of for medical costs to equal $50,000-100,000 to keep some patients alive. We have to ask ourselves, is this the best way to spend our money when the patient himself would like to die? Wouldnt the money be better spent on the patients that can be saved? Also, consider the drag on a dying patients net worth. Most people want to be able to leave their children and grandchildren with something when they die. Medical costs eat into that estate. As Medicare, and other government programs accelerate the US towards bankruptcy, anything that causes a decrease in total costs must be brought forward for consideration. In conclusion, Euthanasia minimizes the suffering that affects those involved, and should be universally legalized in the US. As I mentioned before patients can die with dignity rather than have the illness reduce them to a shell of their former selves, and lessen the suffering of their family and friends. We can free up the nurses and doctors time for savable patients , and euthanasia allows physicians to preserve vital organs that can be donated to others. Healthcare costs will be reduced, which will in turn lower insurance premiums.

Coffee and Tea Essay
Coffee and tea have existed in the world for a long time. Hundreds of years ago, people who lived in South America started to produce coffee, but the earliest drink likes coffee was made by ancient Arabian. They thought it was a kind of medicine used for stomach. After the 15th century, coffee was spread to other countries such as Egypt and Ottoman Empire by Muslims who were back from Hajj, while in ancient China, Chinese people started to make tea about 3000 years ago. Because of nice environment and weather, the first part of tea plants was discovered in southwest China. After, drink tea became an important culture of Chinese people, and tea began to spread into countries near China. Coffee and tea are similar, but different in some specific area. First, coffee and tea are similar but different in population. People from all around the world like them. For example, British people used to drink a cup of tea with some snacks when they have a rest in the afternoon. Western people enjoy drinking black tea, and some of them mix it with milk to make milky tea. Likewise, most people like drinking coffee, for it often tastes good. In China, more and more people began to drink coffee, and some of whom want to taste better coffee like blue mountain coffee. However, although these two drinks are both popular around the world, coffee is still drunk most by western people, while the most quantity of tea is used in East Asia. People lived in China, Japan, and Korea regarded tea as the main drink. Second, coffee and tea are similar but different in function. Both coffee and tea can refresh people because there is a kind of chemical matter, which is caffeine in both of them. This chemical matter can be used for nerves to make a person feel awake and lively. Also, some experts said that black coffee and green tea can help a person lose weight. But, in contrast, tea has some more functions due to another kind of chemical matter which canââ¬â¢t be found in coffee. This chemical matter that named tea polyphenol whose ability is to relieve the effect that is made by poison. Finally, coffee and tea have similarity and difference in origination. Both of them are made from plants. Thousands of years ago, people lived in Africa planted coffee trees in succeed, and now, Brazil has the most coffee trees in the world. In south of China, there are a lot of terraced fields that grow tea trees. On the other hand, people use leaves from tea to make tea, while they use fruits from coffee plants to make coffee. To sum up, coffee and tea are similar in their population, function, and origination, while they are different of their use in different place, their different chemical matter, and their different material. I suggest that people should drink both coffee and tea so that they can be healthier.
